Just a note to try out blogging and what it's all about.
I live in Northern Utah and love to write fiction, some nonfiction, and try my hand at a little poetry.
Mosaic, A Collection of Short Stories, contains five of my short stories in this book published by Omega Publications. The books can be purchased through Amazon.com.
Here's a short synopsis of my five stories:
A Ghostly EncounterA mother, distraught over the death of her son, receives comfort and reassurances that all is well. See how her prankster son finds a way to communicate from beyond the veil.
AdhariA kidnapped and abused woman finds the inner strength to survive her ordeal. Adhari takes the effects of the Stockholm Syndrome to new depths. See how this strong woman surpasses expectations and helps others, including her kidnapper.
CassiusA clever, super-dog shows her personality and prowess as a guard dog. Then when Cassius loses her master to suicide, she finds a new home. Her duties are different, but the love is palpable. She guards her new home with the same prowess.
Lord and Master of the HouseA father rules his domain with an iron fist. His children grow to detest his ways and rebel against his tyranny. Then, the unthinkable happens as the Lord and Master falls ill, hovering near death's door. Strangely, this waiting time affords the opportunity to heal old wounds and reconciliation before death is welcomed.
An Adumbration of DefeatA young sailor gets his first taste of World War II as his train arrives at the desert munitions compound in Henderson, Nevada. An ominous foreshadowing of wrongness is soon confirmed as the men and women working on the solid rocket propellants fall ill and start to disappear.

Endings and Beginnings is a full-length novel written by me and is in the process of being re-edited for publication at the beginning of 2010. This is a post-apocryphal story of a young woman who discovers her dreams are actually foretelling. When the family meets to discuss Aleen's revelations, they decide to take actions to store food, seeds, cooking utensils, arms and other material in a cave in southern Utah to vouchsafe them through this perilous period.

The League of Utah Writers is the primary league for writers in Utah. Several of my writer friends and me have just started a new chapter, Absolutely Write, to help local writers improve and polish their work for publication. We have a general monthly meeting the second Wednesday of each month at the Weber County Library, 2465 Jefferson Avenue, Ogden, Utah. There are currently several critique groups meeting bi-monthly on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Another group is in the making.
